Meet the baker

Hello, I’m Malar (pronounced Mala), and I’d love to share how I turned my passion for baking into a career I truly love, giving me the freedom to run my own business.

Born and raised in London, I was always surrounded by beautiful cakes, and my sweet tooth inspired me to start baking and experimenting from a young age. I spent 12 years working in finance before moving to Zürich for love.

In 2015, I opened my own English tea room in Zürich, serving freshly baked cupcakes, afternoon tea, and bespoke cakes for a range of celebrations. The tea room was a success until building renovations required its closure, which coincided with the arrival of my first child. I continued the business from my hobby room, and after the birth of my second child in 2024, I realised that the business had grown to a level that needed its own dedicated space.

In summer 2025, I moved into my studio in Zumikon and installed a fully equipped professional kitchen. This space now allows me to create bespoke cakes and cupcakes, host children’s decorating parties, run workshops and one-to-one classes, and share my passion for baking with others.

Every creation is baked and handcrafted with creativity, quality, and attention to detail. I can’t wait to welcome you and help make your celebrations or your baking journey truly special.
